STEAM CERTIFICATIONS

We are thrilled to announce that Little Scientists is now an officially approved STEAM Center—the only one in Limassol authorized to offer professional STEM certifications!

Through our partnership with the Cyprus Certification Company (CyCert), the government’s official certification body, our students now have the unique opportunity to have their hard work and skill development formally recognized.

Why Pursue STEM Certification?

These certificates are not just pieces of paper; they are a globally recognized proof of competence.

  • EU Approved: All exams and certificates meet strict European Union standards.

  • Academic Excellence: The organization and structure of these certifications are developed in collaboration with leading universities.

  • Future-Proofing: These certifications serve as valid proof of extracurricular achievement and skill development, which can be used on future CVs and university applications.

The 3 Levels of Achievement

Students progress through three distinct levels, each designed to challenge their growing expertise:

Level 1 – Explorer

  • Focus: Curiosity, first steps in STEAM, basic understanding of concepts.

  • Skills Expected:

    • Recognizes simple STEAM concepts (e.g., identifying patterns, observing scientific phenomena).

    • Participates in guided activities with curiosity and enthusiasm.

    • Demonstrates basic digital literacy (using simple tools, apps, or kits).

  • Projects: Small, introductory projects such as building simple models, coding with visual blocks, or presenting short creative outputs.

  • Assessment: Challenge-based task, completed with direct evaluator collaboration.

Level 2 – Maker

  • Focus: Creativity, hands-on making, early problem-solving.

  • Skills Expected:

    • Applies basic STEAM knowledge to create tangible solutions.

    • Works collaboratively in small groups.

    • Demonstrates emerging problem-solving and design skills.

  • Projects: More developed creations such as a group prototype, basic experiment design, or a digital artifact (e.g., animation, simple app).

  • Assessment: Challenge-based activity, with evaluator-student interaction to validate skills.

Level 3 – Innovator

  • Focus: Applying knowledge to authentic contexts, deeper skills development.

  • Skills Expected:

    • Applies STEAM concepts to real-world problems (e.g., sustainability, environment, health).

    • Demonstrates critical thinking, planning, and independent contribution to projects.

    • Uses intermediate digital/technical skills (coding, engineering kits, data analysis, digital design).

  • Projects: Authentic projects that show connection to industry or community problems. Examples: designing a recycling solution, creating a STEM-based campaign, or developing a functional prototype.

  • Assessment: Exam-style scenario, plus challenge-based task and portfolio review of past work.

2026 Examination Schedule

This year, we will begin certification with Level 1 (Explorer). The certification is designed as a progressive path: students who achieve Level 1 this year can move on to Level 2 next year, and Level 3 thereafter.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must be 7 years old or older.

  • Students must have completed at least one complete full year with Little Scientists.

“Stress-Free” Examination Philosophy

At Little Scientists, we believe that assessment should never be a source of anxiety.

  • No Written Exams: Assessment is entirely based on a hands-on challenge or subject.

  • Independent Evaluation: Kids will be assessed by independent, external instructors based on their practical skills.

  • The “Guest Teacher” Approach: We ask that parents do not tell the children this is an “exam.” We want them to remain calm and creative. They should simply know that a “guest teacher” is visiting to do a special lesson with them.

  • Supportive Environment: The Little Scientists team will be present in the room so the children feel comfortable and secure, though we will not participate in the lesson itself.

How to Apply

Certification will take place on the 4th of May. There are two sessions schedules 16:00-17:30 and 17:30-19:00. You can choose the slot while filling out the application form that follows. If yiu are unsure or you need to ask a few questions please contact us by phone or ask us any questions when you bring your child for a lesson.
